Job summary

Discovery Behavioral Health in McLean, VA seeks a part-time Behavioral Health Tech to support patients through the entire treatment experience from admission to discharge. The BHT will contribute to treatment planning, ensure patient safety, provide interventions, and lead psychoeducational groups, while supporting patients throughout their stay.

The role requires collaboration with clinical staff, adherence to policies, and delivering exemplary customer service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• High School Diploma (or equivalent) preferred
• One or more years experience working within the mental health, substance use or eating disorder field preferred
• Valid and unrestricted State Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Adheres to all DBH policies and procedures.
• Maintains a positive and respectful attitude.
• Provides exemplary customer service to all patients.
• Facilitates patient daily needs per the program schedule, including waking/bedtime routines and hygiene, meals/snacks, bathroom safety observations, free time.
• Assists Nursing staff with duties as directed, e.g., patient supervision, vitals, room searches, patient searches.
• Recognizes and responds to crisis situations and provides interventions as appropriate.
• Completes shift notes, group notes and other required documentation by end of shift.
• Maintains organized and safe environment and performs basic housekeeping duties.
• Facilitates and leads daily groups as directed by facility leadership.
• Attends all staff meetings and in-service trainings.
• Provides transportation services including patient transportation/supervision and errands.

Education

Bachelor's Degree preferred

High School Diploma (or equivalent) preferred

Valid and unrestricted State Driver's License
