Job summary

Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, AZ, is hiring a Behavioral Health Technician to join the 19-bed behavioral health unit. You will support direct patient care, assist with activities of daily living, and help maintain a safe therapeutic environment during 3x12 hour night shifts.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent; CNA preferred, with BLS and HWC within 45 days of hire. Excellent teamwork and ability to manage stressful situations are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• License: CNA preferred.
• Certifications: BLS within 45 days of hire; HWC within 45 days of hire.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision; must handle stress and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of nursing staff, provides direct patient care and assists with maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Provides or assists with direct patient care, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions.
• Observes and records patient behavior and activities.
• Reports any changes in physical, mental or emotional condition to nursing staff and suggests modifications to the treatment plan.
• Provides crisis intervention with incoming calls and on the unit to maintain safety.
