Job summary

Copper Springs in Avondale, Arizona, is a 72-bed behavioral health hospital offering inpatient and outpatient services for adults and adolescents.

We are seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to deliver scheduled programs under RN supervision, monitor safety, assist with daily activities, and participate in psychoeducational groups. Night shifts on 3x12 hour schedule with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 21+ years of age required.
• BHT certification preferred.
• Previous experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
• Certifications: CPR and de-escalation within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Support therapeutic milieu under RN supervision; ensure programs delivered and safety maintained.
• Observe and maintain a safe environment with patient checks and one-on-one supervision.
• Take vital signs, collect specimens, document care, and assist with group education.
• Promote a positive milieu; accompany patients to meals, breaks, and appointments.
• Report medical or psychiatric changes to the RN; assist with admissions including belongings inventory and vitals.
• Document patient property at admission/discharge; conduct unit safety checks each shift.
• Encourage activities of daily living and facilitate psychoeducational groups using guidelines.
• Apply crisis intervention and de-escalation per program protocols.
• Orient new staff; document in medical records; comply with OSHA/CDC guidelines.
