Job summary

Valleywise Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Tech IV to provide essential patient care within our inpatient facilities (Maryvale, Phoenix, Mesa). The role works with a multidisciplinary team, supporting individuals under Court Ordered Evaluation or Treatment for behavioral health conditions.

The position emphasizes leadership, clinical knowledge, and collaboration with nurses and CRLs to drive quality improvements across the unit.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of behavioral health experience.
• Inpatient behavioral health experience preferred.
• Prefer 15 months of experience as Behavioral Health Tech III at Valleywise Health.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical and psychological care for patients under Court Ordered Evaluation or Treatment.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team and families to support patient care and outcomes.
• Promote change and lead quality initiatives to improve patient care on the unit.

Job description

The Behavioral Health Tech (BHT) IV performs a variety of routine activities to provide physical and psychological care for patients under Court Ordered Evaluation or Treatment due to mental illness. These services are provided at one of our three inpatient facilities (Maryvale, Phoenix, and Mesa). The BHT III is part of a multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively with all members of the treatment team including the client/patient and their family and is a vital component to the therapeutic milieu. BHT IVs are looked to by others as a role model and staff that are knowledgeable in all aspects of patient care and work with the CRL or Charge Nurse on the unit to promote change and introduce quality initiatives to improve patient care and outcomes.

Hourly Pay Range: $21.34 - $31.48

Qualifications

Education:

• An Advanced Behavioral Sciences Certificate of Completion, a certification by an internationally or nationally recognized organization that specializes in the safe management of disruptive and assaultive behavior, or an Associate’s Degree in a field related to Behavioral Health.

Experience:

• 5 years of behavioral health experience
• Prefer behavioral health experience in an inpatient facility
• Prefer 15 months of experience working as a Behavioral Health Tech III at Valleywise Health

Specialized Training:

• CPI, EKG, Accuchek, phlebotomy, and manual vital signs training

Certification/Licensure:

• Requires BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Valleywise Behavioral Health Center - Mesa - Unit 2 Adolescent: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit completed application to the Arizona Department of Public Safety within seven days of transfer date. Fingerprint clearance cards must remain valid for the entire period of issuance and must be renewed prior to expiration.
• Pursuant to Arizona Administrative Code R9-10-306 CHAPTER 10 of the Dept. of Health Services, personnel must be at least 21 years of age, or at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified under A.R.S. Title 32 and providing services within the personnel member’s scope of practice.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must demonstrate the skills and knowledge to provide behavioral health services to adults, including those over the age of 65, adolescents, individuals with substance abuse, individuals who are seriously mentally ill, individuals who have co-occurring disorder, and/or individuals who may be victims or perpetrators of domestic violence.
• Requires basic computer word processing skills (e.g., formatting, editing, printing, composing email, etc.) to be able to successfully navigate through an electronic medical record using a computer.
• Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
