Job summary

Freeman Health System is seeking a Medical Worker Helper (MHW I) to support nursing staff in inpatient psychiatry. You will follow licensed staff directions, uphold Community Cares Standards, and help keep patients safe.

You will observe verbal and non-verbal cues, report changes to the nurse, and precept MHW I employees. This PRN daytime position provides variety within a large not-for-profit health system.

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma or GED is required.
• One year of experience in inpatient psychiatry or an equitable treatment setting is required.
• Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field preferred.
• Safe crisis management training preferred.
• Current patient care assistant or certified nursing assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to the nursing staff and patient care through the direction and guidance of licensed staff and leaders.
• Responsible for upholding Community Cares Standards.
• Responsible for ensuring patient safety.
• Precept MHW I employees.
• Observe verbal and non-verbal communication, monitor change in mood and behavior.
• Report observations to the assigned nurse.
