Job summary

The Behavioral Health Technician at Community Health Systems provides direct patient care in a behavioral health setting, assisting with treatment plans, monitoring behavior, and ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment under licensed professionals.

You will engage patients in activities, document observations, support crisis intervention, and help with daily living skills while upholding HIPAA and safety standards in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in a behavioral health, mental health, or healthcare setting.
• Experience working with patients with psychiatric disorders, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care, assisting with daily activities, therapeutic interventions, and monitoring patient behavior.
• Observes, documents, and reports patient status to the healthcare team.
• Assists in implementing treatment plans under supervision of behavioral health professionals.
• Engages patients in structured activities and coping strategies.
• Responds to crisis situations with de-escalation and safety interventions.
• Maintains a safe, confidential, and respectful care environment.
• Collaborates with nurses and therapists to support patient progress.
• Educates patients on healthy coping mechanisms and daily living skills.
• Maintains regular attendance and compliance with policies.
