Job summary

Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to provide direct patient care under supervision. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor patients, and support safety and treatment plan implementation in a busy psychiatric setting.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and relevant NC certifications; prior experience with substance abuse or mental health patients is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED.
• 1 year of experience working with patients with substance abuse, mental health, dementia diagnosis, or intellectual/disabled preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients and assess progress daily; report significant changes to supervising RN.
• Interact with patients one-to-one providing recreational or social activities and reinforce patient teaching.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living including bed making, bathing, hygiene, feeding and dressing.
• Assist with position changes, ROM exercises, transfers and walking.
• Provide care and monitoring of patients in seclusion or restraint; ensure safety.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and restock supplies.
• Follow safety/infection control guidelines and report unsafe conditions or injuries.
• Participate in team discussions to coordinate patient care and continuous improvement.
