Job summary

Strive Recovery Fort Wayne is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician Lead to supervise a team of BHTs in a residential treatment setting. The role focuses on leadership, shift coverage, client safety, and collaboration with clinical and nursing staff to maintain a therapeutic environment.

The Lead will coach staff, oversee documentation, and coordinate staffing while ensuring HIPAA compliance and high-quality care for clients in Fort Wayne. Evening/weekend flexibility may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 year’s experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, mental health, or residential care.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or lead experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass background screening and drug testing.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient documentation and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, support, and mentor Behavioral Health Technicians during assigned shifts.
  • Monitor daily staff performance and ensure compliance with facility policies and expectations.
  • Assist with staff scheduling, shift assignments, and coverage coordination.
  • Ensure proper completion of documentation, safety rounds, incident reports, and client observations.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for clients and staff.
  • Respond to behavioral crises and assist staff with de-escalation and crisis intervention.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and support to BHT staff.
  • Assist with onboarding and orientation of new Behavioral Health Technicians.
  • Communicate operational concerns, incidents, and staffing issues to leadership promptly.
  • Conduct routine inspections of client areas and facility operations to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Monitor client activities, participation, and adherence to program expectations.
  • Collaborate with clinical, medical, and case management teams regarding client care and concerns.
  • Assist with client admissions, discharges, transportation, and room assignments as needed.
  • Model professionalism, teamwork, and appropriate boundaries at all times.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and facility standards.

At Strive Recovery of Fort Wayne, our Tech Leads play a vital role in supporting daily operations, patient safety, and team coordination. This position is ideal for an experienced Behavioral Health Technician who demonstrates strong leadership skills, reliability, and the ability to support both patient care and operational flow, including transportation needs.

Position Summary

The Behavioral Health Technician Lead (BHT Lead) provides leadership, supervision, and operational support to the Behavioral Health Technician team within a residential substance use treatment facility. The BHT Lead ensures daily shift coverage, staff accountability, client safety, and adherence to facility policies and procedures while maintaining a therapeutic and recovery-focused environment. This role serves as a liaison between BHT staff, clinical teams, nursing staff, and facility leadership.

Shifts: 1st shift 10:00am-6:00pm (may need to train or cover on nights or weekends)
Job Responsibilities

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods

Work Environment
