Job summary

Kingwood Pines Hospital in Houston, TX is seeking a Mental Health Technician to be an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care under RN supervision. The role involves rounds, vital signs, crisis de-escalation, milieu management, and ensuring safety.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent required.
• One year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques preferred.
• CPR and HWC Crisis Intervention training must be completed prior to beginning work.
• Must be available to attend full hospital and departmental orientations.

Responsibilities

• Promotes a safe environment: Conducts and documents patient rounds as scheduled; completes environmental rounds as scheduled.
• Takes vital signs as ordered.
• Responds calmly and effectively to emergencies; de-escalates patients according to hospital policies.
• Assists with milieu management and monitors patient and milieu changes.
• Ensures unit schedules are followed and groups are conducted as posted.
• Conducts searches and reports environmental hazards; maintains patient inventory per policy.
