The Behavioral Health Specialist, as part of the primary care treatment team, helps to identify and manage patients with medical and behavioral health problems within the primary care setting. The Behavioral Health Specialist provides brief counseling, psychosocial interventions, problem-solving and skills training through psychoeducational strategies, anxiety and depression management support, as well as specific behavioral change plans for patients. It is preferred that the Behavioral Health Specialist have previous experience, however training will be provided for those candidates that meet all other licensure requirements. General computer knowledge and capability to use computers required. Critical thinking skills and ability to analyze complex data sets required.
This is a highly collaborative program with weekly clinical supervision, with support for licensure and consultation with team psychiatrist. Program philosophy is to develop BHS along their professional goals with opportunity for professional growth within the department.
Education: Graduate from an accredited Master’s Degree program in the mental
health field.
License/Certifications: Provisional LMHC, LMHC, LMSW, LCSW required; higher Certification in Case Management helpful. Previous experience in the mental health field, counseling or related experience preferred.
