Job summary

The Community Service Board of Middle Georgia is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to join the team at the new Behavioral Health Crisis Center in Dublin, GA. You will provide counseling under supervision, develop treatment plans, and deliver crisis intervention to individuals in need.

This role requires a Bachelor's and enrollment in a master’s program, plus strong communication and collaboration skills to support patients, families, and other professionals in a structured,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling education, human services or related field
  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, human services or related field
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse communities
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Office products
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Provides counseling to clients and families under supervision using evidenced based interventions
  • Prepares treatment plans, biopsychosocial and discharge plans and follow up care programs
  • Provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required
  • Collects data about patients through interviews and case histories to determine proper therapeutic approach
  • Manages a specialized caseload and prepares studies for admission or discharge
  • Arranges for therapeutic interventions in crisis situations
  • Follows up to determine reliability of treatment and suggests modifications
  • Consults with legal and treatment agencies regarding patient records and rights
  • Collaborates with therapists and staff and refers clients to appropriate services
  • Performs other duties as assigned

LOCATION: Dublin, GA

The Community Service Board of Middle Georgia’s is seeking a qualified individual to serve as our next Behavioral Health Specialistat our new Behavioral Health Crisis Center (BHCC) in Dublin, GA. This State-of-the-art new facility features 40 total patient beds, including 24 crisis stabilization beds and 16 temporary observation beds, offering both voluntary and involuntary patients access to safe, secure, and compassionate care. This facility will provide critical support and stabilization services for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises in a safe, structured environment where individuals can begin their journey towards healing and recovery.

Responsibilities of the Counselor:

  • Under direct supervision and ongoing administrative oversight, provides counseling to clients and families as appropriate to the position using evidenced-based interventions as needed and appropriate per diagnosis and session content
  • Prepares treatment plans, biopsychosocial, discharge plans, required screenings and assessments, per governing and regulatory bodies, and follow-up care programs
  • Provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required
  • Collects data about patients through interview, case history, and/or observational techniques; evaluates data to identify causes of problems and to determine proper therapeutic approach or referral to other specialists
  • Provides casework management of a specialized caseload, as appropriate to the individual position's requirements; performs research and case assessments; prepares individualized studies for admission, placement, and/or discharge, as applicable
  • Provides and/or arranges for therapeutic interventions as appropriate for patients or clients in a crisis condition and for those with serious disturbance problems
  • Follows up to determine reliability and validity of treatment used; makes recommendations regarding modification to services and service delivery
  • Consults with other legal and treatment agencies and individuals in relation to patient/client records, rights, and responsibilities
  • Consults with other therapists and related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework; refers clients to appropriate service agencies as required
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the field of psychology, social work, counseling education, human services or a related field of study and actively be enrolled in a master’s degree program that is license eligible
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the field of psychology, social work, counseling education, human services or a related field of study
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse communities
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Office Products
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines accordingly

Here’s what would put you over the top:

  • Active Georgia license to provide mental health services (LPC, LAPC, LCSW, LMFT, etc.)
  • 2+ years of Counseling, Assessment, and Crisis Intervention experience
