Behavioral Health Specialist

Full Time 35 hours per week. $26.16 per hour.

Join a team making a difference combining Law Enforcement and Behavioral Health to serve the community in a unique capacity. The program began 3 years ago and is growing at a rapid rate. It offers excellent benefits and flexibility.

The Behavioral Health Specialist is part of the ECHO program and works within local law enforcement agencies to help alleviate calls for mental health individuals, crisis calls, and any other calls deemed necessary. Responding to calls along with Law Enforcement: especially those in need of mental health services, the following are tracked: disturbance, walk-ins, pickup orders, suicidal ideation/attempt, welfare checks, intoxication, 911, community outreach, aggressive person, etc.

Documenting all calls, conversations, follow up, and referrals.

Dealing with mental health disorders and determining which techniques work best.

Ensuring de-escalation techniques are utilized when necessary.

Qualifications:

Five+ years’ experience working with mental health clients or a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology or a related field.

Extensive background in mental health disorders.

Respect for law enforcement and for people with mental illnesses.
