Job summary

Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR) seeks a Safety, Security and Treatment Technician to oversee day-to-day routines of a therapeutic community for residents on a living unit. You will support progress through behavioral interventions and help enforce unit policies to maintain safety and order.

Qualifications include strong communication abilities, PC skills, and willingness to complete required certifications.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate automated systems and a PC.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to interpret and apply basic policies and procedures.
• Work independently, set priorities, organize work and manage multiple projects.
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of policies, physical control methods, first aid, and radio communications.
• Ability to apply rules, conduct searches, resolve problems; provide leadership to residents.
• Completion of required certifications and orientation.
• Ability to work all posts as directed and follow post orders.
• Ability to drive a 15-passenger security van.

Responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day activities of a therapeutic community.
• Develop and supervise a living unit for residents (~40 people).
• Support behavioral interventions to promote therapeutic progress.
• Enforce unit rules, policies, and procedures.
• Perform room inspections and document resident behaviors.
