Job summary

CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, ND is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Behavioral Health (Psych) Unit. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care focusing on mental, emotional, and physical well-being in a structured setting. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate care.

The role requires an active ND RN license (or compact state), BLS, and strong communication. A sign-on bonus and relocation benefits are offered for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree from an approved school of nursing.
• Active RN license in good standing with the North Dakota Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• BLS certification within orientation period and recertification as required.
• Working knowledge of clinical skills in delivery of patient care for behavioral health patients.
• Good communication skills for constant communication with patients, families, staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult patients with acute and chronic mental health disorders, including mental status exams and risk assessments.
• Implement and manage individualized care plans, focusing on psychotropic medications, side effects, and psychoeducation.
• Perform ongoing assessments and de-escalate crises to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, case managers, and other behavioral health specialists for integrated care.
• Engage patients using therapeutic communication, motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention strategies.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, medications, and responses per policies.
