Job summary

Miramont Behavioral Health in Middleton, Wisconsin is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care on a dedicated unit. The RN will supervise care provided by LPNs, CNAs, and other staff, and develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans while ensuring safety and quality of care.

The role requires RN licensure, experience in behavioral health preferred, and the ability to work in an acute psychiatric setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
• One or more years’ nursing experience within clinical area of service preferred.
• Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment preferred.
• Knowledge of and experience with psychotropic medications and administration procedures.
• Ability to apply nursing standards and practice within an acute psychiatric setting

Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs, develops and implements nursing care plans, maintains medical records and educates patients and families about conditions while ensuring safety.
• Assesses patient status on an ongoing basis and communicates findings to providers.
• Transcribes and reviews provider orders and ensures completeness and appropriateness.
• Administers medications per orders using at least two patient identifiers.
• Notifies providers of significant changes in status and responds to medical emergencies as needed.
• Documents effects of PRN medications and maintains medication accountability, including narcotics.
• Completes admission and discharge processes accurately and efficiently.
• Collaborates with the treatment team and participates in unit activities, rounds and hand-offs.
• Educates patients and families on medication usage, side effects, patient rights, and care considerations.
