Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a full-time RN Behavioral Health on a day shift to provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for adults in an on-site behavioral health unit. You will perform comprehensive assessments, monitor safety, administer medications, and collaborate with psychiatrists and therapists to develop individualized treatment plans.

This role emphasizes de-escalation, accurate EHR documentation, and active participation in an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state where practicing.
• BLS certification required.
• Psychiatric/behavioral health experience preferred.
• Ability to work day shifts in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric nursing care to adult behavioral health patients during day shifts.
• Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and track mental health status and safety risks.
• Administer medications and treatments with accurate documentation and adherence to care plans.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams on treatment planning and discharge needs.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and coping strategies.
• Respond to behavioral crises using de-escalation techniques and follow safety protocols.
• Maintain thorough, timely electronic health records and nursing documentation.
• Support continuous quality improvement, patient satisfaction, and unit safety initiatives.
• Precept or mentor new nurses and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
