Job summary

Bellefaire JCB in Medina, OH seeks a Behavioral Health (BH) Respite Care Provider to deliver compassionate care and supervision to children and adolescents with diverse needs. This role emphasizes safety, engagement, and support during respite activities.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; higher degree preferred in psychology or related field.

  • Ability to collaborate on a professional team including families and providers.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Behavioral Health (BH) Respite Care Provider in the BH Respite Program provides compassionate care and supervision to children and adolescents with diverse needs, including behavioral, emotional, and developmental challenges. This role focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for participants while accompanying participants in a variety of respite activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Provide a structured environment for youth to participate in the scheduled Respite activities.
  2. Encourage participation in scheduled respite activities.
  3. Transport BH Respite clients to and from the program activity.
  4. Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children and adolescents in the program.
  5. Facilitate structured activities such as arts and crafts, recreation, and life skills development.
  6. Promote positive behavior and conflict resolution using effective strategies.
  7. Maintain/ complete accurate documentation for all youth in attendance for respite services.
  8. Communicate effectively with participant, program staff, families, and service providers.
OTHER DUTIES:
  1. All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  2. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  3. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  4. Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Education: A minimum of a High School diploma required. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Mental Health or related field preferred.
  2. Licensure: N/A
  3. Skills/Competencies:

    • Independent Judgment: Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.

    • Interpersonal Communication: Communicates clearly using verbal, nonverbal, and written skills in a professional context; demonstrates clear understanding and use of professional language.
    • Professional & Ethical Conduct: Adheres to professional values such as honesty, personal responsibility, and accountability; Applies ethical concepts within scope of work and adheres to Agency policies and procedures.
    • Collaboration and Teamwork: Functions effectively as a member of a professional team that includes employees, clients and family members.
    • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Recognizes problems and responds appropriately; gathers information and sorts through it to identify and address root cause issues; makes timely decisions.
  4. Experience: Experience working with children, adolescents and their families
  5. Other: Have and maintain a valid drivers license and driving record that meets the underwriting criteria of the Agency’s insurance company preferred.
