Valleywise Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse for inpatient psychiatric services in Arizona. The role emphasizes patient advocacy, safety, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care.

The RN will supervise Mental Health Workers and other staff, train future nurses, and support the transition from acute care to outpatient care within a stigma-free, therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s or higher in Nursing.
• Must have at least 1 year of acute care hospital RN experience.
• Must possess a current AZ RN license, temporary AZ license, or valid compact licensure.
• Must be in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
• CPI certification and BLS training provided upon hire/transfer.
• Fingerprint clearance card required with timeline.
• English reading and writing proficiency; bilingual preferred.

The Psychiatric RN provides direct supervision to Mental Health Workers, Behavioral Health Technicians, and Health Unit Coordinators and plays a significant role in training future nurses.

Valleywise Behavioral Health Center has inpatient facilities in Mesa, Phoenix, and Maryvale, and is one of the largest providers of inpatient behavioral health services in Arizona. We serve adolescent and adult populations. The adolescent unit is located in Mesa with a 14-bed unit specializing in caring for patients between the ages of 13 to 17. We have a large medical staff of psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners, with dedicated physician leadership at each of our inpatient facilities.

Hourly Pay Rate: $35.52 - $52.39

Qualifications

Education:

Requires a Bachelor’s or higher in Nursing.

Experience:

Must have at least one (1) year of recent acute care hospital RN experience that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities,or if completed the New Grad RN program at Valleywise Health, then must have at least one year of Valleywise Health experience as an RN and be in good standing.

Certification/Licensure:

Must possess a current, valid AZ RN license, temporary AZ RN license,or valid compact RN licensure for current state of practice.

Must be in good standing with the issuing Board of Nursing.

CPI certification and BLS training will be provided upon hire or transfer to Behavioral Health Departments.

Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete a fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of the date. Must present actual card within ninety (90) days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.

Knowledge, Skills, andAbilities:

Ability to work with culturally diverse people is a must.

Bilingual is preferred.

Must have excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills.

Requires basic computer word processing skills (e.g., formatting, editing, printing, composing email, internet searches, etc.) to navigate through an electronic medical record using a computer successfully.

Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
