The Qualified Professional is a part of a clinical team that completes triage, assessment, and disposition determination for children and adults that are experiencing mental health, IDD, or substance use crisis in the Behavioral Health Urgent Care facility. The Qualified Professional provides crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques for individuals served. This position works closely with a comprehensive team including peer support specialists, nurses, and licensed clinicians. Must be comfortable working with high-risk individuals including, but not limited to, suicidal and homicidal ideations, psychosis, addiction, and emotional disturbances.

The QP is part of a clinical team that provides triage, assessment, and de-escalation interventions for individuals experiencing a behavioral health, substance use, and/or IDD crisis. The team develops community-based linkages to care and conducts referrals to higher levels of care as needed. The Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) offers walk-in services to anyone in the community and partners closely with emergency services and law enforcement to reduce utilization of emergency departments and jails. The BHUC operates 24/7/365, serves adults and children, regardless of insurance. The QP provides support to individuals with Behavioral Health Issues, including mental health crises and detox. Interventions are strength-based and focused on promoting recovery, symptom reduction, increased coping skills, and achievement of the highest level of functioning in the community.

Schedule: Monday- Thursday 10pm-8am

Pay: $22.00 + shift differential

Position Requirements:: Must meet the requirements of a Qualified Professional.

  • Bachelor's degree (in Human Services field) & 2+ years full-time experience with population served
  • Bachelor's degree (Not Human Services field) & 4+ years full-time experience with population served
  • OR
  • Master’s Degree or Higher & 1+ years full-time experience with population served.
  • License, Provisional License, Certificate, Registration, Permit issued by governing board regulating human service profession.

Definitions:

  • Human Service DegreesInclude:Social Service, Sociology, Psychology, or other Human Service Degrees.
  • Populations Served Include: Children and adults with mental health, substance use, and/or IDD challenges

Responsibilities:

  • Provides crisis intervention and de-escalation to individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, and/or IDD crisis
  • Completes thorough assessment aimed towards obtaining information related to safety, mental health, substance use, IDD, physical needs, risk/protective factors, and other relevant factors with individuals served
  • Focus on using strength-based and solution-focused skills to assist individuals to return to stabilization, symptom reduction, increasing coping skills, and achievement of the highest quality of life
  • Facilitating relationships and serving as a link between the individuals served, the company, family, guardians, local agencies and the community
  • Minimizing the negative effects of psychiatric symptoms or substance dependence that interfere with the person’s daily living and personal development, providing supportive counseling
  • Working closely and collaboratively on a comprehensive, integrative team on behalf of individuals served
  • Performing Case Management functions of linking and arranging for services and referrals
  • Working closely with other clinical/professional staff to maintain effective communication and providing feedback, standardizing procedures and expediting service implementation
  • Other duties as assigned.
