Job summary

Preferra Insurance seeks a Director of Behavioral Health, a Registered Nurse who holds 24-hour administrative responsibility for behavioral health programs. You will supervise, assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, and develop programmatic plans including performance improvement and regulatory compliance.

You will oversee staff across behavioral health services, manage resources, and communicate with clinical and administrative teams.

Qualifications

• Must have a current and valid RN licensure.
• Master's degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing preferred.
• Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years’ experience in psychiatric nursing or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of management experience with Behavioral Health programs.
• BCLS (AHA) certification on hire and maintained.
• Behavioral Violence Prevention within 6 months of hire and annually maintained.
• Working knowledge of mental health laws and practice standards.
• Knowledge of continuum of care for behavioral health treatment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assumes 24-hour administrative responsibility for Behavioral Health program(s).
• Supervises, assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care delivery.
• Develops and implements programmatic plans, including performance improvement activities and regulatory compliance.
• Supervises and evaluates all Behavioral Health personnel and manages resources.
• Communicates with staff, physicians and administration in writing and verbally.
• Provides leadership and clinical supervision consistent with organizational goals.
• Integrates Behavioral Health Services into the continuum of care as needed by the facility.
