Job summary

Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital in Rhinelander, WI seeks a Behavioral Health Placement Specialist who will oversee patient placement across the system, coordinate transfers and guide referring facilities to the correct physician. You will ensure timely assessments and maintain EMTALA compliance while adapting to a rapidly changing environment.

The role requires nursing or behavioral health training, 3 years of behavioral health experience, and an active Wisconsin RN or related license with BLS.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of patient care standards and practices is normally acquired through completion of a nursing program or behavioral health program.
• Associate's degree is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Three years of experience in a behavioral health setting is required.
• Active Wisconsin RN nursing license or behavioral health related license is required; BLS certification or within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Understand and uphold Aspirus Health policies; support professional practice and healthy work environment.
• Coordinate day-to-day behavioral health patient placement across the Aspirus Health System.
• Manage transfer logistics for patients within and outside the system; guide referring facilities to the appropriate physician.
• Ensure acceptance or disposition planning and EMTALA compliance in the behavioral health workflow.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PLACEMENT SPECIALIST

Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital, Rhinelander, WI

Full Time (1.0 FTE, 80 hours every pay period)

8-hour day/evening shifts, primarily Monday - Friday

The Behavioral Health Placement Specialist understands and supports the philosophy and policies and procedures of Aspirus Health. Works collaboratively to produce, nurture and sustain a professional practice and healthy work environment that affords and enhances patient care effectiveness and efficiency through leadership to multidisciplinary teams, effective physician relationships and a shared vision and dedication to the future of Aspirus Health. This person has accountability for the day-to-day functions regarding behavioral health patient placement across the Aspirus Health System.

The Behavioral Health Placement Specialist will function out of the inpatient behavioral health unit/s providing critical and timely assessments, communication, and successfully guiding referring facilities to the appropriate physician. The specialist must be able to adjust through a rapidly changing environment. The Behavioral Health Admissions Specialist will manage multiple responsibilities, including transfer logistics for patients being transferred within and out of the Aspirus system. This role will play a significant part in ensuring adequate acceptance or disposition planning for behavioral health patients into our health system, and compliance with EMTALA regulations.
