Job summary

UPMC McKeesport Hospital is seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician to support the Behavioral Health Unit. Shifts are 5, 8-hour per week with start times from 6:30am to 10:30pm; evenings/overnights earn an extra 1.60 per hour.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care including assisting with activities of daily living and procedures.
• Assists with physical, respiratory and cardiopulmonary therapies and reports changes to the RN.
• Performs core nursing assistant tasks (glucose checks, vital signs, weights, I&O, specimen collection, Foley care) and additional tasks (phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG, dressings, Foley removal, IV removal).
• Maintains equipment function, communicates with departments, and supports unit activities (call lights, meals, transport).
• Documents in the medical record and completes clerical functions; participates in self-review and learning needs identification.
• Provides patient/family instruction under RN direction; adheres to safety policies and hospital procedures.
