Position Summary

The Behavioral Health Paraprofessional is responsible for helping clients identify and achieve their goals and meet their needs through being the resident liaison. Acting as a safety observer for both the clients and the facility, this highly responsible position involves providing transportation for residents and assisting residents in a supportive manner to follow facility rules and seek assistance from the clinical or administrative staff to help the client achieve their goals. The role runs in three shifts to enable 24/7 coverage of the facility and may require additional shift work in the event of an emergency or disaster.

Direct Supervisor: Program Manager

Responsibilities
  1. Monitor clients at facility when on shift.
  2. Complete regular rounds and documentation of what occurred during shift.
  3. Follow and comply with medication assistance policies and procedures.
  4. Monitor the facility for client safety, infection control issues and report any potential health or safety issues to the Supervisor immediately.
  5. Facilitate psychoeducation/recovery groups and complete documentation in accordance with facility policies.
  6. Regularly collaborate with treatment team via written and verbal communication regarding coordination of client care, resolution of client and facility issues, and completion of job duties.
  7. Assist in meal preparation as needed.
  8. Participate in Utilization Management and Quality Management activities.
  9. Monitor urine drug screen testing and vital sign assessments and complete documentation in accordance with facility policies.
  10. Facilitate transportation of clients as needed.
  11. Complete or assist in client intake and discharge processes.
  12. Complete regular searches of client, belongings, and facilities.
  13. Maintain and perform facility set-up, cleaning, organization, and inventory in accordance with facility standards.
  14. BHTs are required to stay awake and aware through their full shift – if BHT falls asleep on shift this may result in termination and/or immediate drug testing.
  15. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Maintains current certification for this position.
  2. CPR/FIRST AID.
  3. Maintains own driving information: must have a valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  4. Must be able to assist clients with up to 300 lbs. entering and exiting the vehicle.
  5. Must obtain a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
  6. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

This position will be evenings and weekends.
