Job summary

Northbrook Behavioral Health Hospital in Blackwood, NJ is seeking a decisive Director of Nursing (DON) to join the executive team, overseeing 24/7 nursing operations, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in a behavioral health setting.

The DON will lead staffing, clinical standards, and performance improvement, collaborate with hospital leadership, and drive patient-centered care and clinical excellence across all units.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in New Jersey.
• MSN preferred; BSN with a Master's in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field qualifies.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in psychiatric/behavioral health nursing.
• Current BLS certification.
• Handle With Care certification or ability to obtain within 7 days of hire.
• Proven success leading inpatient nursing operations in behavioral health settings.
• Strong knowledge of behavioral health regulations, accreditation standards, quality improvement, workforce management, and healthcare operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight for all nursing operations across the hospital.
• Lead nursing initiatives aligned with mission, vision, values and strategic goals.
• Champion clinical excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ensure standards of nursing practice, safety, and quality outcomes; support accreditation readiness.
• Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and leadership development.
• Manage staffing, budgets, and resource allocation for 24/7 patient care.
