Job summary

MyCHN is seeking a Behavioral Health Medical Assistant to support behavioral health and psychiatry services within a nonprofit FQHC serving Greater Houston.

You will provide direct patient care, manage clinic workflows, and collaborate with care teams to ensure timely visits and accurate documentation. Strong communication, confidentiality, and EMR skills are essential for success in this fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program from a state-approved school.
• At least 1 year of healthcare or behavioral health experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams.
• Proficiency with technology and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including intake, vitals, screenings, testing, and injections.
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, treatment plans, medication refills, and prior authorizations.
• Manage internal communications and respond to patient and team inquiries promptly.
• Support laboratory processes, including specimen collection and communicating results to patients.
• Assist in maintaining provider schedules and supporting clinic productivity goals.
• Participate in daily huddles and collaborate with care teams to prepare for patient visits.
• Provide translation assistance when needed for verbal and written communications.
• Maintain logs, records, and reports in accordance with department standards.
• Ensure medical supplies are stocked and available for clinic operations.
• Perform emergency procedures in accordance with approved protocols.
• Adhere to all organizational policies, clinical guidelines, and confidentiality standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned within scope
