Job summary

MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville, ME, is seeking a Supervisor of Behavioral Health / Social Work to lead our Homecare and Hospice team. This role oversees clinical and psychosocial services, supports staff development, and ensures regulatory compliance across care settings.

The position requires licensure as an LCSW, an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program, and 3–5+ years in hospice or home health with 1–2+ years in leadership.

Qualifications

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Maine.
• Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program.
• 3–5+ years of hospice, home health, or palliative care experience.
• 1–2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of hospice philosophy, Medicare/Medicaid regulations, and psychosocial care.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical supervision, direction, and mentorship to behavioral health and social work staff.
• Support psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and bereavement services.
• Review documentation and ensure adherence to best practices and ethical standards.
• Serve as a resource for complex cases, including family dynamics and end-of-life care planning.
• Perform staff evaluations and assist with performance management and disciplinary actions.
• Lead and participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings to integrate behavioral health and social work into patient care plans.
• Coordinate care across providers, ensuring seamless transitions between services and settings.
• Support discharge planning and continuity of care for patients and families.
• Facilitate access to community resources and advance care planning.
• Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate social work and behavioral health staff.
• Determine, coordinate, and supervise daily staffing assignments and coverage levels.
• Facilitate staff development programs and ongoing training initiatives.
• Monitor team productivity, patient satisfaction, and quality metrics, implementing improvements as needed.
• Ensure compliance with departmental policies, Medicare/Medicaid regulations, and state requirements.
