Primary Health Care, Inc. in Des Moines area, Ames, and Marshalltown is seeking a Behavioral Health Director to oversee the behavioral health care delivery model and supervise the BH team. The role ensures standards and compliance while leading strategic initiatives across clinics.

The position is full-time, with 16 hours per week allocated to direct therapy; licensure in LISW/LMSW/LMHC/LMFT and 2+ years of BH experience are required, along with strong leadership and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Licensed Social Worker (LISW/LMSW) or LMHC/LMFT as recognized by the State of Iowa.
• Master's degree in Social Work, Marital and Family Therapy, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or related field for required license.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical behavioral health experience.
• Experience with third-party payers and related regulations.
• Must obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers within 90 days of employment; Mandatory Reporter Training for Child/Dependent Adult Abuse.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and direction to the behavioral health team; mentor, coach, and evaluate staff.
• Oversee credentialing and onboarding of clinicians; ensure orientation and training.
• Monitor quality and outcomes; develop/update policies; ensure regulatory and ethical compliance.
• Lead process improvements; participate in committees; apply best practices.
• Assist with budget planning; set productivity targets; monitor staffing to meet patient demand.
• Coordinate integration of behavioral health with primary care and supportive services.
• Provide direct patient care coverage as needed (brief therapy, assessments, interventions).
• Pursue related grants and contracts; lead strategic initiatives.
