Job summary

Primary Health Care, Inc (PHC) is seeking a Behavioral Health Director to oversee PHC's behavioral health delivery model in the Des Moines area. The role includes direct supervision of the BH team, policy development, and coordination with quality, operations, and clinic leadership.

Responsibilities include budgeting, staffing planning, and ensuring regulatory compliance while delivering direct patient care as needed, including brief targeted therapy and assessments.

Qualifications

• Licensed social worker (LISW/LMSW) or LMHC/LMFT as recognized by the State of Iowa.
• Master’s degree in related field.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical behavioral health experience.
• Experience with third-party payers and related regulations.
• Must obtainBasic Life Support for Healthcare Providers within 90 days.
• Must complete Mandatory Reporter Training for Child/Adult Abuse in Iowa within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision and oversight of the behavioral health clinicians and team.
• Recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding BH staff; ensure orientation and training.
• Oversee credentialing of BH clinicians and compliance with policies and ethics.
• Monitor quality and outcomes; develop and update policies and procedures.
• Lead process improvements and participate in budget planning and productivity targets.
• Integrate behavioral health with primary care and supportive services.
• Provide direct patient care coverage as needed (brief therapy, assessment, interventions).
