Job Summary

The Inpatient Adult Psychiatry Staff Clinician is a Masters prepared clinician responsible for treating patients on the Inpatient Adult Psychiatry service. The role includes conducting psychosocial assessments, diagnosing, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, formulating treatment plans, and coordinating care with families and outside providers. The clinician provides case management, discharge planning, family support, and individual (and potentially group) treatment for patients on the inpatient psychiatric unit. Compliance with all governmental and regulatory documentation and care standards is required.

Additional Responsibilities

• Demonstrate familiarity with DSM-5 criteria, major mental illnesses, and substance use disorders.
• Work collaboratively within a busy, fast-paced interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Be well-organized and manage time effectively.

This position is for a master's-level clinician to work with a dynamic interdisciplinary team providing inpatient case management, psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, care coordination, treatment and discharge meetings, crisis and safety planning, and arranging aftercare for patients with major mental illnesses and co-occurring substance use disorders. Work may involve adult and older adult/geriatric populations. Conducting reviews with insurance companies may sometimes be required.

Mass General Brigham Salem Hospital Epstein Center for Behavioral Health includes four inpatient psychiatric units (30 beds each): one pediatric/adolescent, two adult, and one older adult/senior unit. The psychiatry service also offers partial hospitalization programs, a substance use intensive outpatient program, a bridge clinic, and outpatient behavioral health clinics. Salem Hospital qualifies for federally funded loan forgiveness.

Salem Hospital is part of the Mass General Brigham Health Care Network, which includes Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, McLean Hospital, Newton Wellesley Hospital, and other MGH institutions.
