Job summary

Crosspoint seeks a Behavioral Health Counselor to provide assessment and counseling services for individuals, families and groups. This full-time position may include remote work per contract guidelines, with supervision by the Clinical Program Manager.

Job Description: Behavioral Health Counselor

This is a full-time position in which the employee is responsible for providing assessment and counseling services to individuals, groups, couples and families. Remote work may be an option as allowable by contract.

• Conduct screening and comprehensive assessments on all referrals.
• Guide clients in developing effective treatment plans and implementing these plans.
• Provide ongoing assessment of strengths and needs throughout the treatment relationship.
• Complete progress reports and discharge reports for clients as required.
• Document assessments, plans and all program services in client files as required by policy and regulation.
• Provide individual, family and group counseling and/or education to clients, couples, and families.
• Conduct crisis intervention for clients.
• Complete client referrals to coordinate services with medical and other service providers.
• Advise program staff on community resources for treatment and support.
• Serve as a consultant for case managers in developing service plans.
• Participate in the Crosspoint training program as a presenter as requested.
• Provides community education and attends internal and external meetings and workgroups as assigned.
• Participate as required in the production of program management and status reports.
• Performs other tasks as may be assigned.

Supervision:

The Behavioral Health Counselor is under the direct supervision of the Clinical Program Manager and is guided by agency policies and procedures. Counselors with an intern status will be subject to additional direct supervision by the Clinical Program Manager in accordance with state regulations.

Education & Experience:

Licensure as an LCSW or LPC in the state of Texas, or elsewhere with a reciprocal agreement.

Must be bilingual (Spanish) - Required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

• Working knowledge of counseling techniques, mental health and substance use disorders, including diagnostic criteria and treatment methods (especially DSM-V, ICD-, & ICD-10).
• Ability to communicate clearly and accurately verbally and in writing.
• Ability to apply general assessment, counseling, and therapeutic skills with a diverse population.
• Ability to use and care for basic hardware and software, including electronic health records, computers, email, internet and fax machines.
• Working knowledge of regulations governing confidentiality, privacy, and professional standards of ethics.
• Ability to seek, develop and maintain relationships with community providers, resources, and referral sources.
• Ability to operate independently, effectively and efficiently in an office and in virtual remote settings
• Must be prepared for a flexible schedule.
• Ability to enforce rules while engaging in a therapeutic relationship.
• Valid Texas Driver's License, automobile and insurance.
• Bilingual required (Spanish).

  • CPR and First Aid Certification is required after hire (training provided by Crosspoint).
