The Behavioral Health Coordinator II provides lead case management services, focused on behavioral health leadership and coordination within MWVCAA's ARCHES sheltering programs. The Behavioral Health Coordinator II also provides clinical guidance and support to program staff and may be required to work various shifts outside of their regular schedule, including night and weekends, to ensure timely crisis intervention and continuity of care. Day Shift, Part-time, up to 19 Hours per week

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Master's Degree in Counseling or Social work with current practicing license in the state of Oregon.
• Two years related social services experience which includes case management and program coordination and/or training.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION S

• Driver qualifications are required for this position. Valid driver license, insured vehicle available for use on the job, and a satisfactory drive record for the previous three years are required.
• Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment.
• Basic Life Support/First Aid Certification is required within first 30 days of hire.
• Food Handler's Card or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.
• Current License to practice in the State of Oregon.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Basic computer skills. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, database software, online tools, and video conferencing platforms.
• Ability to read, analyze and articulate technical procedures and governmental regulations.
• Must possess excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
• Demonstrates tact, diplomacy and empathy when communicating formally and informally with clients, staff and program partners.
• Ability to effectively de‑escalate heightened interactions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

• Performs needs assessments and develops comprehensive support plans to designated clients in order to support their individualized needs and goals.
• Performs risk assessments with clients. Provides guidance to program management based on results gathered in assessments.
• Works in collaboration with Program Director to create and modify curriculum for assessments. Recommends changes as needed.
• Sits in on leadership meetings to provide insight on program incidents.
• Monitors participant progress and maintains detailed and up-to-date case notes.
• Maintains organized and complete resident files, to be reviewed by the Program Director.
• Coordinates and facilitates life skills workshops for residents.
• Employs de‑escalation techniques and makes quick decisions in response to resident incidents.
• Supports staff adherence to program and agency safety policies.
• Organizes and leads monthly resident support groups, utilizing evidence‑based behavioral health strategies. Makes changes as needed depending on engagement and individual/group needs.
• Reports to Program Director for clinical oversight.
• Pursues Program Critical Strategic Goals, including:
  • Displays commitment to community‑based projects and needs that are not covered by our current grant structures (finding ways to solve homelessness beyond grant administration).
  • Displays commitment and cooperation with co‑located agency
• Maintains working knowledge of relevant community resources and refers clients to resources as needed.
• Embraces the mission and philosophy of Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, recovery, client‑centered services, Coordinated Assessment, and Harm Reduction.
• Performs cleaning, janitorial, and laundry tasks in support of day‑to‑day sheltering operations.
• Supports nutrition staff as needed by completing various kitchen tasks, including cooking meals.
• Participates in Community Outreach to local organizations, camps, and groups as directed by supervisor.
• Maintains appropriate boundaries with clients and coworkers at all times.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to move about the workspace.
• Ability to reach and/or extend to access materials or equipment.
• Manual dexterity for handling office equipment.
• Occasional driving in all weather conditions to agency and community sites in Polk and Marion counties.
• Maintains calm disposition when clients or others may become escalated, applying crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques for all participants.
• Regulates emotions during interactions with escalated clients and staff.
• Regulates emotions and handles pressures of frequent demands for attention, time and work tasks.
• May exercise judgement in determining day‑to‑day priorities while receiving only occasional direct supervision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Close quarters, often with a client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe and persistent mental illness, and/or unpredictable behavior.
• Personally responsive to urgent situations, which could require travel for on‑site interventions.
• Mostly indoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands.
• Exposure to trash and potential biohazards.
• Occasional urgent situations requiring law enforcement involvement and/or paramedic professionals.
• Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
• Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Occasional exposure to body fluids/biohazards (such as saliva, vomit and urine.)
