POSITION TITLE: Behavioral Health Consultant

REPORTS TO: Director of Behavioral Health

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

CareSTL Health is seeking Behavioral Health Consultants! The Behavioral Health Consultant provides behavioral health consultation to children, adolescents, adults, and families in order to improve psychosocial functioning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following information is considered the definition of essential functions but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The Behavioral Health Consultant may be reassigned duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other staffing reasons. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Provides comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of behavioral health clients.
2. Provides effective treatment planning and assists clients in successfully achieving goals.
3. Provides assessment, consultation, and brief intervention for psychological/psychiatric problems and/or disorders. Assists the primary care team in developing care management processes such as the use of guidelines, disease management techniques, case management, and patient education to improve self-management of chronic disease.
4. Evaluates crisis situations and applies appropriate interventions. Assists in the detection of “at risk” patients and development of plans to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration.
5. Works as a member of the Care Team to improve health outcomes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field; or
2. Master’s Degree and licensed in counseling, social work, or a related field.

Experience:

1. A minimum of two (2) years of counseling experience required.
2. Experience in delivering behavioral health services required.
3. Knowledge of DSM-V required.
4. Experience in an integrated health care environment preferred.
5. Experience in Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and NCQA Standards preferred.

1. Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
