  • Licensed professionals preferred (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LMFT or Licensed Psychologist).
  • Two years of direct psychotherapy experience with adults, children, adolescents and families.
  • Knowledge of child/adolescent development, family systems, and evidence-based treatments.
  • Ability to collaborate with school personnel and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Proficiency with EHR and general computer use.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments across lifespan and evidence-based screenings.
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 30–32 patients.
  • Develop and monitor integrated, person-centered treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with school personnel and community providers to support students’ emotional well-being.
  • Support family engagement and collaborative treatment planning.
  • Participate as a core member of an integrated care team and attend supervision.
  • Maintain required records and documentation in the EHR.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Coordinate with QA and Admissions to ensure compliance.

Job description

The Behavioral Health Clinician (School-Based) provides comprehensive behavioral health services across both Metropolitan Center for Mental Health’s (MCMH) School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) Program and CCBHC outpatient clinic settings. In the school-based role (2 days), the clinician delivers evidence-based mental health services to children and their families within our partnering school community, promoting emotional well-being, academic success, and social-emotional development. In the outpatient CCBHC clinic setting (3 days), the clinician conducts intakes, assessments, and psychotherapy services for children, adolescents, and adults consistent with the NYS Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). This position offers a unique opportunity to provide continuity of care across community and clinical settings while supporting MCMH’s mission of delivering accessible, high-quality mental health services.

  • Qualified health professionals (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist) are preferred. Licensed eligible (Psychologist, MHC, MFT) professionals are eligible.
  • Previous clinical experience (minimum two years) providing direct psychotherapy services to adults, children, adolescents, and families.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child and adolescent development, family systems, and evidence-based mental health treatment approaches.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school personnel, multidisciplinary teams, and community-based providers.
  • Comfort working in both community-based and school-based settings with a diverse patient population.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the NYS Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model and its core principles, including whole-person care and team-based delivery.
  • Proficiency with computer, information systems, and Electronic Health Records.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels acrossthe organization effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal communication,and writing skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments for individuals across the lifespan and evidence-based screenings for substance use and mental health. Under supervision, the clinician performance functions related to assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment, counseling, rehabilitation, and other support services for patients.
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 30 to 32 patients, addressing a wide range of mental health and/or substance use disorders.
  • Develop, and continuously monitor, integrated, person-centered treatment plans in collaboration with patients and members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with school personnel, care givers, and community providers to support students’ emotional well-being, academic functioning, and overall development while maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Support engagement of families and caregivers through outreach, psychoeducation, and collaborative treatment planning.
  • Actively participate as a core member of an integrated care team, collaborating with care managers, peer specialists, and other medical providers to coordinate care and ensure a seamless patient experience.
  • Make decisions about, and maintain required records of, appropriate Level of Care using patient criteria tools (e.g.,NYS-LOCADTR) as necessary for patients receiving substance use services.
  • Monitor Medication Management for patients under the guidance of a waivered prescriber with close clinical follow-up.
  • Conduct outreach for patient re-engagement efforts when patients miss scheduled clinical appointments.
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for all services rendered, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge plans.
  • Provide crisis intervention for patients as needed.
  • Attend weekly individual and group supervision and contribute to clinical case conferences and team meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance and Admissions Departments to ensure all patient documentation is in compliance with regulations.
