Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Behavioral Health Consultant to join the care team and support enrollees’ overall health. The BHC assists with recognition, treatment, and management of psychosocial and medical conditions within ambulatory care settings.

Responsibilities include providing brief counseling, crisis intervention, referrals to higher levels of care, education to the multidisciplinary team, and collaboration with families to optimize outcomes while adhering to licensure

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mental Health Field is required.
• 2 years experience in evidence-based counseling techniques, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders.
• Knowledge of the relationship between medical and psychological aspects of health and disease.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); out-of-state transfers may take up to 60 days.
• CPR certification and compliance with background clearances (Act 34, Act 33, Act 73, FBI).

Responsibilities

• Member of the care team & population health efforts.
• Develop clinical pathways or best practice programs for targeted patient groups.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
• Provide education and support to multidisciplinary teams during treatment planning.
• Engage patients via in-person and telephone contact.
• Provide brief therapeutic counseling using 15–30 minute interventions.
• Coordinate care with families and community resources.
• Ensure documentation in the medical record and maintain treatment plans.
