- Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling from an accredited college or university.
- Must hold one of the following Michigan licenses:
- LLP (Limited Licensed Psychologist) or LP (Fully Licensed Psychologist)
- LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker)
- LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)
- Must meet qualifications of a Mental Health Professional (MHP) as defined by Michigan Medicaid (PIHP/CMHSP guidelines).
- CAADC (Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor) or enrollment in a CAADC development plan through MCBAP is required—or willingness to enroll within 3 months of hire.
- Minimum of one year of experience working in behavioral health.
Essential Job Functions:
- Engage individuals in a welcoming, hopeful, empathetic manner even during acute phase.
- Collaborates as part of an interdisciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating services for psychiatric, co-morbid, and/or co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorder consumers in the urgent care setting.
- Deliver urgent care services to persons presenting with complex needs in physical health, mental health and substance abuse.
- Collaborate, communicate and act as a liaison with primary care physicians, outpatient behavioral health providers, local crisis programs, etc.
- Triages individuals as the check-in for behavioral health urgent care including determining if the individual needs higher level of care.
- Implement integrated strength based assessment(s) interviews to assess the presence, onset, symptoms and patterns of behavioral health, substance use, and psychiatric disorders. Assess for acute needs and risk and provide/arrange for appropriate stage wise intervention. Demonstrate the knowledge of diagnostic criteria for psychiatric and substance use disorders
- Use standardized screening tools such as SAFE-T with CSSRS, PHQ9, PTSD-5, and AUDIT/ AUDIT-C.
- Records the assessment, plan, progress and other significant information regarding the individual for agency case records.
- Assist individuals with identifying changes in behavior, attitude, feeling and thought that are triggers for relapse. Assist in the development of a relapse prevention/crisis plan utilizing personal, community and provider supports. Create clear and understandable crisis plans with individuals.
- Provide referrals and develop discharge and after care plans to ensure continued care.
- Provides, therapeutic intervention, crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques on a limited, short-term basis. Evaluates the outcomes of therapeutic interventions.
- Provide education and consultative services to help individuals, families and support persons to understand the disorder(s), the phases of recovery, service options and course of treatment.
- Clinicians will encourage participation in various aftercare programs and services such as 12-step, peer support, and link to community supports.
- May perform case management functions and act as a liaison, refer individuals, and provide educational and consultative services.
- Collaborates across disciplines for co-treatment/consultation of complex co-occurring mental health needs and Substance Use Disorders.
- Provide support, education and reinforce the use of prescribed medication to treat both substance use and/or psychiatric disorders.
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care.
- Willingness to support and assist individuals with trauma related issues.
- Work closely with the BHUC team, with focus on collaboration, flexibility, and teamwork to ensure excellent delivery of service.
- Attends team huddles and team meetings.
- Willingness to work flexible schedule which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays based on business needs
