Job summary

Summit BHC is seeking a Behavioral Health Associate I for Las Cruces Recovery Center in Las Cruces, NM. This onsite role supports a multidisciplinary treatment team, monitors client behavior, conducts safety checks, and assists in crisis response to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, six months of experience with the population, CPR certification, and de-escalation training; first aid may be required by state guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months or more experience working with the specific population preferred.
• Knowledge of common psychiatric disorders and/or dual diagnosis and various treatment modalities of the population served preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the wellbeing of clients and provides a safe, positive, supportive, and structured environment.
• Conducts safety checks and ensures supervision according to guidelines.
• Checks clients for contraband and manages belongings.
• Interacts with clients, observes behaviors, and communicates observations to supervisor.
• Encourages attendance at group therapy and participation in activities.
• Facilitates educational-rehabilitative groups covering social skills, coping skills, and independent living skills.
• Takes and records vital signs and communicates changes to the charge nurse.
• Charts in client records timely and accurately.
• Applies de-escalation techniques to manage emotions and participation in treatment.
• Enforces safety rules and assists with activities planning and cleanup.
• Receives shift reports and provides thorough handoff to oncoming shift.
• Orients new clients to programs and activities.
