Job summary

HealthWest seeks a Behavioral Health Assessor in Muskegon County to facilitate intake, determine eligibility, and conduct assessments for services. The role involves making medical necessity determinations and treatment recommendations, with travel within the county as needed.

Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in Psychology or Social Work, have Michigan licensure or be pursuing licensure, and bring experience in psychiatric or developmental disabilities settings.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Psychology or Social Work from an accredited college or university.
• Preferred knowledge/experience with administering psychological testing.
• Minimum of one year full-time post-graduate work experience in a psychiatric or developmental disabilities setting or at least four semesters of internship in a mental health related field; AND
• Must possess a license or be working toward a license to practice in Psychology as issued by the State of Michigan (LP, LLP, TLLP, LLMSW or LMSW; LP or LLP preferred).
• Knowledge and experience working in an Autism program; experience with ADIR and ADOS-2 preferred, training provided if not.
• Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
• Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation required.
• Travel throughout the County may be required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate intake process for Muskegon County residents seeking HealthWest services.
• Determine client eligibility for services and perform assessments and testing.
• Process service re-authorizations and determine medical necessity and level of care.
• Make treatment recommendations and identify risk and liability issues.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
