Job summary

Lifepoint Health’s Collin Springs Behavioral Health hospital in McKinney, TX is seeking an Assessment Specialist to help evaluate needs, coordinate levels of care, and guide admissions with a patient-centered approach.

The role requires a Master's in Social Work or Counseling (or an RN with an associate degree), state licenses, CPR/de-escalation certs (or within 30 days), and experience in psychiatric care for adults and elders.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work/Counseling or equivalent (required) or an Associate's Degree in Nursing (required).
• Current clinical, social work or RN license as required by state regulations.
• CPR and De-escalation certification required or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and geriatric patients preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates response to service requests, including initial response, assessment, and referral; designates level of care and admission; follows up.
• Conducts initial evaluation, initiates assessment, documents symptoms/needs, and informs MD for LOC determination.
• Provides prompt, courteous support to patients, physicians, visitors and coworkers.
• Knows Emergency Detention paperwork and EMTALA processes.
• Maintains preadmission/admission paperwork and completes pre-certification with insurers.
