Job summary

ABLE in Wareham, MA is seeking a Behavioral Specialist to support individuals with developmental disabilities. The role implements DHSP objectives, fosters independence, and documents progress. Shifts are 8AM-4PM, Monday through Friday, with pay ranging from $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.

The position emphasizes respectful, person-centered support, collaboration with the team, and promoting health, safety, and well-being in daily activities and community participation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of experience and/or training with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred/required.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
• Criminal background check required.
• Ability to read and understand policies, procedures, and safety instructions.
• Portuguese bilingual skills are helpful.

Responsibilities

• Protect and respect each individual’s dignity, rights, privacy, choices, and cultural values.
• Provide respectful, professional, empathetic, and person-centered support.
• Assist individuals in identifying and participating in meaningful activities that promote independence.
• Develop weekly schedules and activities based on DHSP goals.
• Document daily activities, incidents, and progress toward DHSP objectives.
• Transport individuals to community-based activities as assigned.
• Maintain accurate records using computers and other office technology.
