Alternatives, Inc. in Hillsborough, NJ seeks a full-time Behavioral Assistant Manager to support adults with developmental disabilities and oversee a behavioral residential group home.

You will assist with daily living activities, implement behavioral plans, and help coordinate with staff, families, and healthcare providers while promoting independence and dignity for residents.

Qualifications

• RBT certification is required or preferred.
• Basic computer skills (email, document creation) are expected.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities for team and residents.
• Commitment to the rights and dignity of individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to pass background checks and drug screening.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including medication administration, meals, hygiene and transportation.
• Help implement individual behavioral plans using teaching/mentoring techniques.
• Encourage community outings and recreational activities based on preferences.
• Report health and safety concerns and maintain accurate documentation.
• Support Group Home Manager with staff scheduling and coordination with doctors/guardians.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BEHAVIORAL ASSISTANT MANAGER

As the Behavioral Assistant Manager, you begin each shift ready to help adults with developmental disabilities live their best lives as independently as possible. You have made it your mission to ensure the comfort and safety of each client. In our residential group home, you assist our residents with activities of daily living such as administering medication, cooking meals, performing personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments.

You also assist in the implementation of individual behavioral plans. Using effective teaching and mentoring techniques, you teach them new skills and help them achieve goals. Based on each individual's preferences and behavioral plans, you encourage their interests and drive them to community outings and recreational activities. You are happy to help them find greater access to the community. You are conscientious about reporting any concerns about their health and safety and keeping documentation accurate and up-to-date.

In addition to the above-mentioned direct care job duties, the Behavioral Assistant Manager is closely involved with the operations of the group home. You will assist the Group Home Manager with things such as staff scheduling, budgeting, communication with doctors' offices and parents/guardians, perform fire drills, and more. Your past experience as a Direct Support Professional has prepared you for this opportunity!

Some aspects of this job are not easily accomplished but at the end of each shift, knowing your clients are happy makes you feel great about the work you do!
