Job summary

West Fargo Public Schools is seeking a Behavior Technician for the Transition Academy at the Lodoen Center in North Dakota. This 182-day, ongoing position runs Monday through Friday with about 6.5 hours per day, supporting learners with disabilities under supervision.

The role focuses on daily instructional activities, behavior reduction protocols, and collaboration with the Special Education Department to prepare students for post-secondary settings and community integration.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Driver's license required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Experience working in special education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops positive, effective working relationships with learners and staff.
• Collaborates with high schools to create a seamless transition between programs.
• Assists educators in routine classroom operation, daily activities and assignments.
• Maintains classroom by assisting educator with daily organization.
• Acts as a liaison between resource and content area classroom.
• Assist paraprofessionals in other programs when needed.
• Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors to build communication and social skills.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with learners, pairing self as a reinforcer.
• Connects and shares ideas to express thoughts with integrity.
• Provides skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols under supervision.
• Collects observable behavior data and implements behavior support plans.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Driver's License

Associate's Degree preferred
