Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy in Issaquah, WA, is seeking a compassionate Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) to support students with autism in academic and behavioral settings. You will work directly with students, helping them achieve individualized goals and participate in daily classroom activities.

Responsibilities include implementing IEPs/BIPs, data collection, collaboration with teachers and behavior specialists, and daily training to grow in the field.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience with children, especially with autism, is a plus but not required.
• Passion for supporting students with autism and developmental disabilities.
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, empathetic and flexible in various situations.
• Willingness to take a course and complete testing to become an RBT.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing IEPs and BIPs for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, fostering growth.
• Help with daily tasks including communication, social interaction, self-management and hygiene.
• Prepare students and materials for activities and outings with appropriate clothing/devices.
• Support students during classroom activities, field trips and events.
• Implement strategies from behavior plans to promote self-regulation.
• Collect and document data on student performance and progress toward goals.
• Collaborate with teaching teams and behavior specialists to create a positive learning environment.
• Communicate progress and challenges with teachers and staff.
• Participate in daily training sessions with behavioral analysts and professional development.
