Job summary

Medix is seeking Behavior Technicians to join a site-based Day Services program supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will provide 1:1 behavioral and direct-care support, implement behavior plans, and help create a safe, structured environment.

The role emphasizes documenting progress, collaborating with staff, and adapting to participant needs. A 40-hour RBT training is required or in progress; additional certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years experience supporting individuals with IDD.
• Minimum 1 year experience providing 1:1 behavior services to individuals with IDD.
• Completion of 40-hour RBT training meeting BACB requirements.
• RBT registration/certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized 1:1 behavioral and direct-care support to participants.
• Help participants transition into the program and participate in scheduled activities.
• Review participant goals and support plans and implement behavioral strategies throughout the day.
• Provide support with daily routines and personal care needs, including bathroom assistance when needed.
• Help participants make choices and participate in activities based on their interests and goals.
• Collect behavioral data and complete narrative documentation accurately and within required timelines.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized program environment.
• Collaborate with other staff members to ensure consistent support across participants.
• Adapt to participant needs and provide additional support when required.
• Work primarily in a 1:1 ratio, with the possibility of moving to 1:2 during periods of low census.

About the Role

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Minimum 1 year of experience providing 1:1 behavior services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Documented completion of the 40-hour RBT training meeting BACB requirements.
• RBT registration/certification is preferred but not required.
• Ability to provide hands‑on support with personal care needs when necessary.
• Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current RBT certification - Not required but preferred
• CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain prior to working in program ratio.
• CPI/Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Experience working with adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
• Spanish bilingual skills are a plus, but not required.
