Job summary

Montgomery County Intermediate Unit #23 seeks a dedicated Behavior Assistant to provide intensive behavioral support within the Office of Student Services. The role focuses on proactive strategies, crisis response, and direct treatment to help K-12 and transition-age students succeed in daily environments.

Qualifications include an Associate's degree (60+ credits) in psychology/education or a behavior-related field, with Bachelor’s preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or 60+ credits in psychology/education/behavior-related field is required; Bachelor's preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year working with students with special needs, especially autism or emotional disturbances.
  • Current RBT certification or willingness to obtain within six months; BCBA enrollment preferred.
  • Strong behavior management and ability to engage with students, staff, and families.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with IEP teams to implement behavior assessments and plans.
  • Provide direct intervention using ABA-based strategies and data collection.
  • Support students individually or in groups to meet goals and develop independence.
  • Operate as part of a classroom team and maintain professional demeanor.
