Job summary

Devereux PA Children's Services seeks a Behavior Support Specialist to work with Brandywine School students in West Chester, PA. You will help manage challenging behaviors in a classroom setting and implement interventions developed by the BCBA.

This role runs Monday through Friday, 8am–4pm, with a pay rate of $25.00–$28.50 per hour. Benefits begin after 30 days, and the ASCEND Career Accelerator Program supports professional growth.

Qualifications

• EDUCATION: RBT certification or eligible; required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a human service field preferred.
• EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year of work experience with children or adolescents with behavior challenges preferred.

As a Behavior Support Specialist (BSS) you will work with our Brandywine School students who have frequent challenging behaviors in a school setting which is located on our main campus in West Chester, PA.

Every Day As a Behavior Support Specialist You Will

• Provide behavior management support to individuals in a school setting.
• Carry out specific interventions that are developed by the Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
• Transfer skills to individuals’ natural support in the least restrictive environment.
• Support teachers in managing student behaviors in the classroom.

The Brandywine School located in West Chester, PA offers education curriculum to children functioning at all grade levels. A multi-sensory educational strategy is used at all schools, employing traditional instruction, hands-on and independent learning, as well as technology, to individualize a student’s progress in all academic areas, particularly math and reading. The transition from school to career, and all of the necessary interrelated skills, are a main focus of the school program. Devereux’s approved private schools offer high quality, innovative special education programs that work in tandem with families and school districts to ensure that students can return to their local schools and communities with the tools they will need to succeed. Children and young adults may come to Devereux as a day student, or as a part of residential treatment.
