Job summary

Rutherford County Schools Forest City-Dunbar Elementary School in Forest City, North Carolina seeks a Behavior Support Assistant to supervise a classroom and support students with academic and behavioral needs. The position reports to the Principal and Designee and is 10 months with non-exempt status.

Responsibilities include coaching for prosocial behaviors, documenting daily activities, participating in student support team meetings, and assisting with transitions, lunch, recess, and arrivals.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 48 semester hours from an accredited college required.
• Experience in an educational or behavioral setting preferred.
• Knowledge of behavior management strategies and educational technology.

Responsibilities

• Providing personal coaching and evidence-based support services to promote prosocial classroom behaviors and improved school engagement
• Supervising and managing a classroom of students
• Documenting attendance, participation, behavior, and student needs daily
• Participating in student support team meetings and communicating student needs
• Assisting with transitions, lunch, recess, and arrival/dismissal
• Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards
• Engaging in ongoing professional development
• Performing other duties as assigned
