Job summary

Haven Access Works LLC seeks a skilled Behavior Specialist to support individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and autism in home and community settings. This is a per-diem role with a clear path to full-time as caseload grows.

Responsibilities include FBAs, Behavior Support Plans, coaching families, data tracking, and advocacy for participant rights. Travel in Delaware County, PA, and adjacent areas is required, with remote work for indirect tasks.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of direct experience with individuals with Intellectual Disabilities or Autism.
• Must be willing to travel in and around Delaware County, PA for daytime visits.
• Master's degree or higher in relevant field or PA Behavior Specialist License or Bachelor’s with supervision.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) to understand the why behind challenging behaviors and craft individualized, positive Behavior Support Plans and Crisis Intervention Plans.
• Collaborate with participants, families, Supports Coordinators, and care teams; train supporters to ensure consistency.
• Provide direct coaching in homes and communities to teach new skills and apply positive behavior strategies.
• Collect and analyze data, monitor progress, and update plans as needs change.
• Advocate for participant rights and fade plans for restrictive interventions when appropriate.

Behavior Specialist (Per-Diem with Path to Full-Time)

Pay Rate: $25.00 – $27.00 / hour

We're looking for a skilled, compassionate Behavior Specialist to join us in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism in living full, connected lives in their homes and communities.

This is a flexible per-diem position with a clear path to full-time employment as your caseload grows.

How It Works:

• Work From Home: All indirect work-like writing assessments, drafting behavior support plans, and administrative tracking-can be completed comfortably from your home office.

• In-Community Support: Direct services require travel and face-to-face visits with participants in their homes and communities across Delaware County, PA, along with periodic daytime appointments in adjacent regions.

Because direct support requires travel, you'll need:

• A reliable vehicle

• Valid driver's license

• Up-to-date insurance, registration, and inspection

What You Might Be Doing:

• Assessment & Plan Design: Conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) to understand the "why" behind challenging behaviors, then crafting individualized, positive-practice Behavior Support Plans and practical Crisis Intervention Plans tailored to each person's unique goals.

• Team Collaboration & Education: Partnering closely with participants, families, Supports Coordinators, and care teams. You'll walk everyone through the plans, model interventions, and provide hands-on training so all supporters feel confident and aligned across every environment.

• Direct Coaching & Implementation: Spending time with participants in their homes and communities to teach new skills, coach supporters through real-time challenges, and put positive behavior strategies into practice.

• Data Tracking & Plan Evolution: Collecting and evaluating data, monitoring what's working, and updating behavior support plans as participants grow and their needs change.

• Advocacy & Human Rights: Creating fading plans for restrictive interventions and presenting plans to Human Rights Committees when needed-always keeping participant dignity, rights, and least-restrictive approaches front and center.

Who We're Looking For:

• Experience: At least 2 years of experience working directly with individuals with Intellectual Disabilities or Autism.

• Location & Travel: Comfortable traveling in and around Delaware County, PA (and adjacent areas) for scheduled daytime visits.

• Educational & Credential Requirements (Must meet one of the following):

  • Master's degree or higher in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), or Gerontology

  • Pennsylvania Behavior Specialist License

  • Bachelor's degree with commitment to work under the direct supervision of our Director of Behavior Supports
