Job summary

Northwestern Counseling & Support Services, Inc. is seeking Behavior Interventionists to support adults with intellectual disabilities or Autism.

You will work as part of a team to implement Behavioral Support Plans and contribute to skill-building per Individual Support Agreements. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental coverage, an employer-matched retirement plan, and educational support.

Qualifications

  • Therapeutic support experience preferred; training available.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Participate as part of a team to initiate activities supporting skill-building per Treatment Plan.
  • Navigate maladaptive behaviors and provide behavioral support per individual Behavior Support Plans.
  • Assess and adjust the environment to ensure proper support and supervision with calm judgment.
  • Develop positive and therapeutic working relationships; support individuals with communication needs.
  • Document progress on Individuals Support Agreement goals.
  • Provide needed personal and/or medical care.

Northwestern Counseling & Support Services, Inc. is seeking compassionate, motivated, and flexible candidates to become Behavior Interventionists and make a difference in the lives of others. Behavior Interventionists provide support to adults with intellectual disabilities or Autism within our community.Key Responsibilities:Participating as part of a team to initiate activities that support skill building based on a client's Individual Support Agreement (Treatment Plan).Navigating maladaptive behaviors and providing needed behavioral support according to clients individualized Behavior Support Plans.Assessing and adjusting the environment to ensure proper support and supervision while utilizing sound judgement and calm demeanor.Developing positive and therapeutic working relationships.Supporting individuals with communication needs.Providing needed personal and/or medical care.Documenting progress on Individuals Support Agreement goals.The ideal candidates will be strong team players, exhibit patience, and have the ability to calmly and empathetically validate individuals during challenging situations. Therapeutic support experience is preferred; however, we are willing and able to train someone who is ready to support adults with intense behavioral needs.
