Job summary

North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Schools is seeking a Behavior Intervention Specialist at Skyview Middle School. This full-time position requires 8 hours per day, 190 days per school year, an ASAP start, and pay at $29.08 per hour under the BIS Labor Agreement.

The BIS will check on and encourage positive behavior, attend problem solving meetings, mediate with students, and develop social skills groups and behavior plans in collaboration with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in working with students in a school setting.
• Experience in conflict resolution strategies and a variety of discipline strategies.
• Experience working with parents and children in difficult and sensitive situations.
• Ability to present to small groups and large groups of students, parents, and staff.
• Demonstrated outstanding organizational skills.
• Experience working as part of a collaborative team.
• Ability to keep information about students and families confidential.

Responsibilities

• Check on and encourage positive behavior for students; build relationships with students.
• Attend Problem Solving meetings.
• Mediation with students.
• Develop student groups on friendship, anger management, social skills.
• Develop and monitor behavior plans.
• Give consequences for behaviors as described in behavior plan.
• Be available and responsive to staff members' requests for interventions.
• Develop/create structured recess games.
