Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking a Behavior Intervention Specialist for Academy of Arts & Technology in Marion, OH. You will implement FBA, function-based interventions, and BIPs, while collaborating with IEP teams to support students with behavioral needs.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, and experience with at-risk youth, with strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office. Background checks required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, health, or another related field preferred.
• Intervention Specialist license preferred
• Three years’ experience with at-risk or behaviorally challenged children in education settings
• Proven ability to build trust with students, parents and colleagues
• Ability to pass federal, state, and local background checks

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding and supportive attitude toward behavioral needs of students across age groups
• Provide expertise in Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), function-based interventions, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
• Meet with students requiring intervention and develop individualized behavior tracking and intervention programs
• Participate on IEP Teams and liaise with students, families and staff
• Collaborate with staff on crisis intervention, learning and collaboration issues
• Serve as consultant to administrators, teachers and parents for behavior modification solutions
• Monitor attendance and develop Absence Intervention Plans to improve school-wide daily attendance
• Maintain timely records and support school culture through daily practices and collaboration
